The Volunteer Management Training Program, hosted by Volunteer Hampton Roads, is a comprehensive six-week training initiative designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills essential for effectively engaging and managing volunteers. This program, developed by Points of Light, has been continuously updated to meet the evolving needs of organizations and volunteers.
Module 1: Establishing the Framework
Defining Volunteerism, A New Framework, The Volunteer Experience (VE), Elements of Volunteer Engagement, Barriers to Volunteering, Social Motivators
Objectives
- Describe volunteerism and its role in civic life today.
- Apply a volunteer-centered framework to volunteer engagement.
- Identify elements of volunteer engagement.
- Explore barriers to and motivators for volunteer engagement.
Target Audience
This program is designed for anyone working with volunteers, including those involved in assessing volunteer needs, budgeting for volunteer programs, writing volunteer position descriptions, recruiting volunteers, managing volunteers, and stewarding relationships with volunteers.
Certification
Upon successful completion of all six modules, participants earn a certification in volunteer engagement, demonstrating their expertise in recruiting, managing, and retaining volunteers effectively.
