Work Schedule
Day Shift: 7:30am- 4:30pm or Evening Shift: 2:30pm-10:30pm
This position is responsible for teaching assigned classes, as scheduled.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis as assigned
- Assist program coordinator in maintaining any equipment used by the student
- Assist program coordinator in developing curriculum, preparing course materials, and scheduling
- Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the program coordinator
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom or lab
- Submit attendance, grades, student evaluation, and all other required reports/documentation to the program coordinator per established procedures
- Notify program coordinator of any current or potential problems which warrant his/her attention
- Actively utilize proven retention techniques approved by the school Automotive Technician Instructor
- Complete performance based teacher education modules as assigned by program coordinator or as needed based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and student completed surveys
- Attend in‐service training seminars as required
- Alert program coordinator on the first day a student is absent
- Alert program coordinator in writing of a student’s third absence
- Alert program coordinator in writing of a student’s fifth absence
- On a daily basis, monitor and record attendance of all new students during the first three weeks of their first module of attendance and report attendance to program coordinator
- Any other duties, tasks, or projects that may be assigned by the Program Coordinator, Director of Education, or School Director.
Education/Experience/Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- All instructors must hold current ASE certification in G1, A6 and in the automobile area(s) (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A7, and A8) they teach
- All instructors teaching Engine Performance must also be ASE certified in L1 – Advanced Engine Performance
- Comply with personal and environmental safety practices associated with clothing; eye protection; hand tools; power equipment; proper ventilation; and the handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals/materials in accordance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations
- Must present a professional image and conduct him/herself in the same manner
- Must provide information on each diploma earned, and copy of ASE Certification
- Must be able to communicate with staff, faculty, and students
- Must complete a minimum of 20 hours of technical update training each year.
- Must work well under pressure
- Must possess skillful attention to detail
- Must possess excellent computer skills

- ASE Certification equal to the level of classes taught.
