Wind Turbine Technician Instructor - Centura College, Norfolk
Salary Range:$20.50 To $26.00 Hourly
Fridays and Holidays off- Part-time and Full-time Opening
Centura College Allied Health and Trades is part of a network of career and technical schools with 20 campuses throughout the country. We are currently have an opening for a talented Wind Turbine Technician Instructor to join our Norfolk campus.
Responsibilities and duties of this role include:
- Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis, as assigned
- Assist Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director in developing curriculum, preparing course materials and scheduling
- Assist Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, or Campus Executive Director in maintaining equipment used by the students
- Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student files
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom lab
- Submit attendance, grades, student evaluation, and all other required reports/documentation to the Program Coordinator, Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director per established procedures
- Notify Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director of any current or potential problems which warrant his/her attention
- Actively utilize proven retention techniques approved by the school
- Ability and willingness to work flexible schedule to teach day and evening classes
- Complete performance-based teacher education modules as assigned by the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education and Campus Executive Director or as needed based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor evaluations and student surveys
- Assist with the department equipment and supplies inventory and submit purchase requests to the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education and Campus Executive Director for replenishing of supplies as needed
- Assist with the maintenance and utilization of equipment used in the program
- Attend and/or conduct in-service training, faculty meetings or other mandatory meetings
- Provide notice/alert to Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education and Campus Executive Director regarding student’s absence (first day, third absence, fifth absence)
- Monitor, record, and report attendance of all new students during the first three weeks of their first module
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Program Coordinator, Campus Director of Education, and Campus Executive Director
Education
- Must possess at minimum a High School Diploma or GED
- Must possess experience at a minimum journey or technician level (at least 4 years) in the specific craft instructing or a minimum of three years’ experience as a certified teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program in the specific craft instructing
- Must possess at minimum at least four years’ experience in the field
Experience/Skills
- OSHA 10-Hour training certification within six months of hire date
- Must demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge and continuing study of the subject matter
- Must present a professional image and conduct him/herself in the same manner
- Must be able to communicate with staff, faculty, and students
- Must work well under pressure, multi-task, and have good organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; prefer Campus Nexus knowledge
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- OSHA 10-Hour training certification within six months of hire date
- CPR certification current or within six months of hire date
